Stop by the photo exhibition of famous personalities and guide dogs
Take a break while shopping or on your way from lunch or dinner and stop by on floor +1 in PALLADIUM. In front of the FJÄLLRÄVEN and ALO diamonds stores on a gallery, you will find an exhibition of photos featuring guide dogs and well-known Czech celebrities. These photos, in a smaller format, are also presented in the 16th edition of the charity calendar by the Mathilda Foundation.
One of the Mathilda Foundation’s key activities is training guide dogs for the blind. Since launching this initiative in 2013, the foundation has provided dozens of guide dogs to visually impaired individuals. The foundation’s founder, Mathilda Nostitzová, had a deep love for dogs, which inspired this endeavor. In addition to this, the foundation supports Tyfloservis, an organization focused on the rehabilitation of blind and visually impaired individuals. It operates training households where people who have lost their sight later in life can learn to live independently. The foundation also runs a magazine and a digital library, offering more than 20,000 titles for visually impaired readers.
The foundation’s co-founder, Countess Mathilda Nostitzová (June 12, 1936 – July 20, 2021), was born in Planá near Mariánské Lázně as the eldest daughter of Count Karel Nostitz-Rieneck. Although her ancestors identified as Czech, after the communist takeover, her family was forced to leave Czechoslovakia in June 1948. In 1970, she married an Italian diplomat and accompanied him during his postings around the world. From 2006 to 2015, her husband served as the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in the Czech Republic. Despite living abroad from the age of 12, Mathilda Nostitzová remained actively engaged with her homeland, to which she could finally return after 1989. She later divided her time between the Czech Republic and Italy.
The large-format photo exhibition from the Mathilda Foundation’s calendar is open to customers for free in PALLADIUM on floor +1 (on the gallery in front of FJÄLLRÄVEN and ALO diamonds) daily from 9 am to 10 pm. The exhibition runs until mid-March 2025.
